Every family has a story. Ours has always been told around a table.
Some of our favorite memories weren't made during grand celebrations — they were created in everyday moments. The smell of fresh bread, the laughter shared over a meal, recipes passed from one generation to the next, and the simple joy of making sure everyone left the table feeling cared for.
Hospitality has always been part of who we are.
Long before MAHALIKBAYAN had a name, our family believed that food was one of the purest ways to show love. Whether preparing a holiday feast, welcoming unexpected guests, or gathering after a long day, the kitchen became the heart of our home.
As life took us to different places, every new chapter left its own mark on our family. We discovered new traditions, new ingredients, and new ways of sharing meals, while never forgetting where our journey began.
Those experiences became the inspiration behind MAHALIKBAYAN.
The Name
The name itself is deeply personal.
It is inspired by the Filipino words "mahal," meaning love, and "balik," meaning to return.
To us, MAHALIKBAYAN is more than a name.
It represents returning to the people, traditions, and memories that remind us where we belong.
It means carrying a piece of home wherever life leads.
Every sandwich, every loaf of Pan de Brot™, every Balik Bite™, and every recipe we create reflects the places that have shaped our family and the people who have shared our table along the way.
Our menu isn't meant to recreate the past. It's meant to honor it while creating something entirely new.

A Heartfelt Thank You
Returning to Where It All Started
This journey began with my mother — born in the Philippines in 1953, she carried her homeland's traditions, flavors, and warmth into every kitchen she ever stood in. She taught me that cooking is a language of love, and that a meal shared with care is one of the greatest gifts you can give another person.
One of my greatest dreams is to return to the Philippines as a balikbayan — not only to visit the homeland of my parents, but to bring MAHALIKBAYAN back to the country that inspired it. To share these original creations with the people and the place that started it all.
